Watan Pro Farm is a private sector company, active in the field of cattle development in Afghanistan. The company is created after a long term cooperation agreement between Haji Sami from Afghanistan and a Dutch company from The Netherlands in order to improve the livestock sector in Afghanistan. In more than 30 years of conflicts the livestock sector remained underdeveloped. Beside that in the years 2002 and 2003 Afghanistan experienced the worst drought ever, leading to death and loss of cattle. The total milk and beef production in Afghanistan is not enough to meet the demands for dairy products. Import on dairy products dominates the market and increases rapidly each year. Production of cattle in Afghanistan is in general low when compared to other countries in the region.
